Hey ARH! Hey What!
I think it is time for me to introduce myself to everyone. My name is Ryan McFadden, and I serve as the advisor for ARH. I think it would be nice to add a little bio about me. Over the last seven years, I have attended four institutions. I started at Rock Valley Community College in Rockford, IL, and I graduated with my Associate of Arts. At RVC, I was involved with several student organizations such as Student Commission, Inter-Club Council, Wrestling Club, and S.H.A.P.E. (a social science organization). In addition, I worked as a student orientation leader, Old Navy, and Sears. At Sears, I worked in electronics and shoes. Yes, I was an Al Bundy, but I had a great time working with my co-workers. My next journey was to Northern Illinois University, where I majored in a BA of Communication emphasis in Cultural/Advocacy. While I was at NIU, I was involved with the Residence Hall Association (RHA) as a hall association president and the National/Illinois Communication Coordinator. It was time for me to step outside Illinois and travel to Flagstaff, AZ to Northern Arizona University. At NAU, I completed my Master of Education in Educational Leadership emphasis in Community College, and I served as a Graduate Assistant Residence Hall Director. The hall I co-managed was primarily Greek Life students housing 8 sorority and 14 fraternity chapters. Even though I was not affiliated with a Greek chapter as an undergrad, I had a blast advising and working with the Greek students. I was able to advise Intra-Fraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, and Order of Omega. Now, I am at the University of Iowa working with all the outstanding Hawkeyes!
Okay, time to step outside my work life. Outside the office, I enjoy the following activities:
• Cheering for the Chicago Cubs. This will be the year!!!!
• Swing Dancing. Just jump’ n’ jive away.
• Food. It is good. That is all.
• Sports/Work Out Activities. I attempt to get back into shape. Waking up at 6:30 am for a run can be a struggle, but I always feel good afterwards.
• Concerts and Listening to Music
• Frisbee Golf. Yes, I am a frolfer.
• And following my life motto: Rock On To The Fullest!
If you need to get a hold of me, drop me an email at ryan-mcfadden (at) uiowa.edu. Or, you can contact the Office of Residence Life at 319-335-3700 in 260 Stanley Hall. Thanks everyone, and I look forward working with everyone. Have a good day and GO HAWKS!
