Flashback is a great game. It's in the same vein as prince of persia, gameplay involves running left or right, jumping and climbing, ducking, enemies thst follow you off screen, ect. Also there is a lack of music allowing the atmosphere to sink in with the sounds of nature in the first stage. You collect items and store them for later and can use them to get past puzzles and sidequests. You can interact with characters and some have nothing to say other than good morning, ect. The story advancesfrom location to location, each with a big map to navigate. It takes place Iin the future and tells the tale of a man named conrad, a man who learned too much about an invasion and was on the run until he was captured and just before that, he emptied his mind and stored the information in to data and left a message for himself inside a holocube. The adventure begins when he crashes into a junngle and has no idea where he is or why, same as the player. The game then reveals over time by finding clues and eventually meeting up with a friend of his in the second stage. The game was also pretty advanced for its time for having 3d polygons and cutscenes. It made it feel very cinematic. The little music that did play was not only durring thee cutscenes, but also durring tense moments in the game, likewhen you enter a room and an enemy Iis nearby, kind of like a secret inside a room in the legend of zelda games. I played the pc version first along with a bunch of old adventure games. They were fun and had great stories to them, it drives me crazy when I hear people these days bashing on them like the completionist did with the original flashback calling it borring. I wonder then if its because I grew up with the game and have such fond memories of playing it that im biased and wear tinted glasses or they just dont have the patience to appreciate the game's charm.

I just get caught up in other stuff. Sorry. Anyway yes I grew up on sega, some of my all time favorites are on it like flashback, columns, space harrier 2, altered beast, shinobi, and sonic. but for the longest time I had to play emulated versions or at a cousin's house because I thought my genesis had died. Turns out it was only a bad ac adaptor. So me and my sister would play on an n64 in the meantime. I didnt get another genesis until 10 years later when I decided to try again. I even swapped the cords just to make sure it worked and sure enough it did. I was getting games I missed out on and discovering new ones, so much fun! the 3rd genesis I found in a yard sale that was missing a few parts but was just as functional as the other 2, albeit it ws sticky and needed cleaning.
