As far as making friends, you might start out by hitting up the forums. Maybe start an introduction topic if you have not already, and participate in any topics that interest you. From there you can do direct chat, check out the profiles of, or friend anyone that interests you (which you can do by pushing the add friend button while viewing their profile).
As for your missing anime, you can add it yourself to the list if its not there. It just has to be approved afterwards.

Onizuka @averageboss Sorry, tried to add it for you with no luck. Unfortunately, I don't have time to talk at the moment, working on a painting commission, and only have an hour left before I need to head to bed.
Also one more thing to note, things that you post will only show up on the front page for your friends, whether they be things you post on your wall or on the forums. So more friends means more exposure for things you have to say.
