I'm a physicist living in the Atlanta area. Finished my Ph.D in September of 2011 in a much colder part of the country, and moved down here for a postdoc at one of the area Universities. I'm still learning to cope with the heat...
I've been a fan of anime, and Japanese pop culture in general, for a few years now. I've long been a science fiction fan and was aware of anime, but it wasn't until a friend gave me "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" that I really became a Fan with a capital F. It's only grown and spread since then! I'm currently trying to learn Japanese via the "all Japanese all the time" method. It's been going much slower than I'd like, but I certainly know more than I used to.
My favorite series tend to be in the slice-of-life/healing genres (shows like Hidamari Sketch, K-On, Aria, last season's Acchi Kocchi, ...) though that's certainly not all I watch. And I'm happy to discuss pretty much anything!
Anyway, I'm here looking to make some friends who share my interests. And if one of those friendships should happen to develop into something more... well, I certainly wouldn't complain ^_^
