College clubs are awesome, and you'll be surprised how many there are for all kinds of majors! :D So your sister is in good hands. Ah, Shelby is a nice name! I'm certain she'll have a well rewarding first year. And no worries, I have a younger sister who was feeling the same way XD
Sure! My name's Lindsay, I should have introduced myself before, my apologies about that. Oakley? Very unique! Reminds me of Professor Oak from the Pokemon video games and anime. That's another topic I could discuss for eternity! I'm a huge Pokemon fanatic haha
Yeah, I took piano lessons for a short time in high school, I still remember some of it, but I'm no hardcore piano player. And yes, I enjoy singing very much! Was in choir since elementary school, and soprano is my range, my sister however is an alto. Please let Shelby know the college experience is nothing to worry about, she'll be able to fit in just fine, and no troubles will arise (except for the homework assignments and projects that is!)
Oh yes, how could I forget about the score of a film?! The sound design of a movie is so important to giving the audience that extra boost of how you're supposed to feel throughout a scene, the climatic part of a film, changes in a character's mood, changes in the storyline, and many things more! Credit titles and scores are so cool! Ah, that sounds like it would be fun, actually, if that happens I'd enjoy that XD I love listening to other critiques of films and movies, it makes me notice things I hadn't noticed before or things I haven't thought of in a certain way! There are many perspectives and interpretations a movie can give, just like there are many meanings, and one again, genre plays a factor in diversifying those perspectives and meanings. Sometimes I'll be able to catch quick changes in scenes, or if they hold a certain cut too long. My favorite thing to critique that I can notice easily is if a film maintains continuity. Oh, really? I didn't catch the "Alien" skull in Predator 2! You have a great memory, and a really quick eye! So in all respect I guess I'm not that quick, but I'll be able to catch a few things :D Ah, Marvel! I love how they cross reference other films into their movies! I'm excited to see the Avengers 2, I saw Captain America 2 recently and I really enjoyed that movie. In my film class we were discussing that movie and how Marvel likes to not focus on close ups of minor characters if they don't play a big part or are part of the main storyline. The camera will focus on those characters that are prominent in the story for a bit at a time, so the audience can identity a face to a name, and see how that character evolves the story. I won't talk much about it, not sure if you've seen it lol. I love Deadpool!! I'm excited for the movie as well! I'm sure it will be hilarious and insightful, as Deadpool always is. My favorite Marvel character, though? Hmm...I'd have to say either Captain America or Loki. I also really like storm, but that may be because I'm bias in the elements of lightning and thunder, I really like those elements a lot.
Yes, the swarma ending scene from the Avengers was priceless! (Not sure how to spell swarma, though). Robert Downey Jr. always makes me laugh in his role as Tony Stark, he's a perfect match for that role. I love how when they all finally eat together, everyone is quiet, and each of the Avengers has a different expression on their face. I can't remember who had what expression, but one of them was bored, another irritated, another impatient, etc. Family food and anime for life indeed! :D
DBZ has such a nostalgic value to me. I remember coming back from family beach trips, and after a shower and dinner, I would watch DBZ episodes on Toonami. My memory is far from great, but that memory is so special to me. I was watching an episode from the Cell saga, too, which is one of my favorite sagas. Yeah, I feel exactly the same way about Kai, since they cut so much stuff out, it takes away from the built up anticipation, which is so important to building up suspense! The suspense makes you really feel the tension between the characters as well! Originals all the way! I need to watch more Thundercats, too!
3 out of 3 right! Great job :D Yes, you got Shenron's name right XD And sure! I'll give your questions a try!
I watched Outlaw Star on Toonami, and then in my high school's anime club! And that's a great meaning, you can see how Gene's character changes and grows postively! Not to mention the show had a great theme song!
I really enjoy how fun it is to figure out and decipher messages. It's like a secret hidden code made for adults that we don't see and reveal until we're older! And sure thing, we can both decide how to figure out what they would say. :D

You’re welcome :D Haha nice pun there. I’m sure she’ll be happy, attending a school for music production and getting acquainted with others involved in music production and/or music in general. The first year of college is always tough, but that doesn't mean it can’t be fun too! Music is wonderful, and greatly valued. And there’s always so many clubs and activities to join, and with so many options there’s little chance your sister won’t enjoy and be happy with school!
XD no worries, the banjo’s really cool. I actually can’t play a number of instruments, I’ve taken piano lessons but that’s about it for me in the instrument department, I sing soprano though because instruments don’t like me x-x but I love and appreciate music all the same. Just like with movies, there are so many genres of music, too! Yeah, let her know that if she feels hesitant when first attending school, it’ll go away once her classes start and she gets the chance to explore some clubs, and she’ll have a wonderful time for her first year!
Haha same here, it’s good to know that too:D I love going to the movies and watching films but the problem with that is my friends sometimes get annoyed with me if I whisper to myself to critique the film! To see how the action is choreographed, what drives the heroes and villains of films to do what they do and why, to the overall plot of the film, and how different characters, events and situations cross paths with each other and intertwine with one another…ah there’s so much to a film! And I’ll always stay after the credits of a film to see who was involved and what kind of work had to be done in terms of post-production, animation techniques, character design, etc. I figure that if I’m spending a lot of time watching a film and enjoying it, I should pay those who were involved with making and producing the film some respect. I’m weird like that :D I’m also a huge Marvel fan, and I know to always stay after the credits since there’s always a bonus scene after. The people who leave right away are missing out! Family food and anime all the way! XD
Love Dragon Ball and DBZ! Sometimes I feel it’s underappreciated :( Yeah, the originals are so much better. I remember Thunder Cats! Didn’t watch too much of the old Thunder Cats, but I remember watching reruns when I was young. I really appreciate the older shows because of the nostalgic value to them. Hmm…what to ask…ok! Here’s a few Dragon Ball questions to get started. What was Goku’s grandfather’s name? What is the name of the Eternal Dragon? And who made the first wish with the dragon Balls?
Yes! Outlaw Star and Gundam Wing were great shows on Toonami:D So many shows are filled with so many meanings and interpretations, one of the reasons you really appreciate a show much more when you’re older. Ah, same! I enjoy comparing the messages from shows to real life. And exactly! Great quote to explain it. The messages hidden in shows are indeed riddles that we’re supposed to figure out!
Yeah, the very first things I think of are an overarching storyline and plot that involves the characters, and why that would happen/what purpose. And then I think of character motivations. I can’t think of anything either haha Yeah, I can see them having those kinds of conversations :D I’ll let you know if I think of something!

Animation is tough...but as long as you have the drive, persistence, and perseverance, you should be in good shape. Glad to hear that in your area there are ample internships. They're such a gateway to networking yourself for job opportunities! :D
Ah, your sister is majoring in music production? Good for her! I come from a family of musicians, so a love of music is in my blood. You and your family are really nice to help her out, and I wish her the best for her first year.
Movies and anime are so important for not only providing entertainment for relaxation, but also a topic to discuss in depth, and the fact that there is so many different genres and kinds of anime and movies out there is truly remarkable. Bonus points for life lessons! Haha no worries, family and food are on my list too. And nothing wrong with plain and simple, simplicity negates complication XD
Ah! I love Dragon Ball! Dragon Ball trivia sounds great! :D I'll have to think of some questions though..
I'm a fan of Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT (not so much Kai though, for some reason having those filler episodes really helps my nostalgia for the show XD). But Dragon Ball was one of my very first animes, and a great show! I remember watching it on Toonami, along with other shows like Zatch Bell, Rave Master (not so much a good show), Sailor Moon (classic), Yu Yu Hakusho, and many others.
I remember those anime skits on Toonami! And all those life lessons they used to teach. You know, when you watch something when you're younger, you sometimes don't realize how important a message can be, and not really understand or appreciate it until you're older. I too have had those moments where something didn't seem to make much sense before, but you think about it, and then you get older, and then you live life, and then you reflect on what you heard and think to yourself "Oh yeah..now I know what they meant!" or something to that extent. It's a big mystery indeed, but a powerful one. They're very simple phrases and messages, but very powerful when you think about it, and you can interpret it in a number of ways!
Oh wow! That's a great idea...Miyazaki characters finding themselves in a similar universe and interacting with one another! I can just imagine it, Sophie and Baron meeting and other characters meeting each other as well! It would have to involve a plot where all the characters need or have to get together for a common cause they all believe in and consider important. A deadly virus or something similar is too cliche, though. I'll have to think about this one :D

Oh wow! Animation is tough, I have a friend who is currently taking an animation class right now and she was telling me all about it. It's really hard to find any sort of job opportunity for animation, graphic design, and even for media studies it pertains to the entertainment industry. It's a hard business to break into! Usually there's more internship opportunities than job positions, according to a few people I know who have graduated.
Same here! Especially being in the entertainment industry, they're so important to me! Haha one of three things you say? :D
XD no worries, I believe everyone needs to embrace their interests, passions and skills because that's what makes someone happy and have a great well being. Besides, talking about movies is so much fun! And also talking in general.
Ah..I see..well in every bad situation or memory, you try to make the best of it, right? Try to find that silver lining behind the somber cloud? And no worries, I understand. Ah, a trivia would be fun! Which film/movie/animes were you thinking of?
I love watching movies for life lessons and life meanings, it's interesting to see how each movie, especially Miyazaki movies, bring a different side and perspective to the table. And what kinds of morals they try to emphasize and how they do it..it's all so interesting! :D
She's a wonderful character, of course she was always a strong willed girl but through her learning of how life can be experienced she changes and grows even stronger!

Thanks! :D I really enjoy it! Anime and Movies are my life haha
I thrive on movie discussions, so don't think that you'll be annoying in any means. My friends sometimes tell me to be quiet when I go into a rant x-x
Lucky!! I wish I possessed a long term memory, but nope, that apparently didn't happen XD But it's not like I don't remember anything. And I love trivia! :D
Oh yeah, Billy Crystal is one of my favorites, and that role for Calcifer was greatly cast in all honesty. All the Miyazaki movies hold a special place in my heart. The Baron's a wonderful character, and I thought that too. Helping people is such a great characteristic, it makes characters in movies more identifiable and relatable I think.
Oh jeez, that's a hard decision...but if I had to choose a favorite character, it would be Sophie. I love how she changes and grows (both literally and figuratively/metaphorically) and by the end of the movie, you can really see how empowered she is. I love strong female characters.

The score in that movie is also something that I really appreciate about the film, very moving. Yeah, I'm a film nerd XD I go to a film school and focus on editing videos as a major, and also work on a few student TV productions. Live action, animation, anime, musicals, etc!
Wow, that's a really good skill to have! Paying attention to detail is so important! Whenever I watch an anime I'll always trying to figure out what voice actor voices which character, the music tracks they used for the show, and I like to see the transition of cuts of a show (close up, medium, wide, etc).
Yeah, I was surprised when I found out Billy Crystal voiced Calcifer. He voiced that character well!
Oh The Cat Returns is a great Miyazaki movie! I haven't seen it in a long while, so I'll have to refresh my memory by watching again. I know the main female character is voiced by Anne Hathaway, which is really interesting! The Baron was my favorite character, though.

I love the stories of the Miyazaki films, plus all the amazing detail to the backgrounds. I'm a huge film buff XD My favorite is Howl's Moving Castle, I love the story so much! Which movie is your favorite?
