Maybe at a time he was a prominent figure but either ran away or was defeated. Kinda like Nel from Bleach. The other devilman want that power on their side or want it destroyed. Maybe they have a great fear of some potential in him.

Fair enough. I guess I just see it more as a corruption. Like that the more devil he becomes, the less human he does. He's grown stronger but in exchange for that strength he's losing that gentler part of himself. I dunno, just a guess

Particularly when you're a young man on the cusp of adulthood and your hormones are raging. It's kind of vapid for him to literally only care about food and fucking but I was a pent up teen at one point too so I can kind of relate xD As for the Pochi thing I think that's not a plothole at all. He was sad and crying for his friend so he knows he's CAPABLE of compassion and crying over loss. But then he gets to know and like people he's with and yet their loss doesn't affect him. That part of him that made him able to cry and able to care. that's the loss. Then again he barely knows these people <.<

It's all relative ((: The significance of that loss is felt only because he knows what it's like to deeply care for something. Buuut he doesn't spend long worrying about it anyway. Maybe it will be explored down the line but Denji might not be the best person to explore it with. I'm not getting too into sexual politics and the differences in how men and women tend to view it. Denji in particular does seem really thirsty for affection but to be fair he spent his whole life starved without it, he IS a guy so those urges are much stronger, aaand well listen...I don't like fish. I don't like carbonated water, I cannot stand mustard. But if you deprived me of food for a month and water for 5 days and put a plate of mustard dipped anchovies and a side of S. Pellegrino in front of my face I'd devour it like it was the best meal in my life. Put another way, an asthmatic will appreciate a breath of fresh air in a way I never will xD And yeah this new guy as soon as I saw his questions and response to their response I was on board! Dude is a badass. They are in good hands.

Hot meal, hot shower, hot sex. Simple but relate-able goals indeed. He's loyal to this group only because they feed and take care of them. And he doesn't spend 5 chapters lamenting the loss of his humanity! Which I guess saying out loud isn't the best word they could have gone with. But I think it's a lot like the use of the phrase "I need to get stronger". How that can be said even if the task has nothing to do with physical capabilities. Maybe it's like that. It's that he feels he's lost something fundamental to other people. Whose to say whether that's true? I've seen people die and felt nothing for it so probably not. The author has done well so far so I'll give it a chance.

Still not really sure where the story is going but it's refreshing to have leads who aren't some noble braveheart bleeding heart good guys or wretched backstory antiheroes. They are simple people in a complex situation. Not really good or bad.
