Kraft vas Si'yah @mkraft True. Though it was quite interesting that this year people felt that 20C temperatures at the end of summer was too cold as it happened after the 30C month long period. To me it was ok but others started using long sleeved shirts etc. Quite funny as most summer that 20C is the normal thing and quite enough for us. People adapt but have no damn "Sisu" these days. Sigh.

Before getting into anime, I was really a cartoon addict. I practically watched like everything, that was on the kid's channel, Ytv and Teletoon (I probably will do if I had a TV). I never really stopped watching the cartoon even after when I reached high school. I also have watched Rugrats, Simpson, Looneytoon, Pinky and the Brain, Futurama, Family Guy, Power puff girls, Dexter's laboratory, Scoobydoo and list goes on and on. Since I always watched from these channels, I got introduced anime slowly through YTV. It ran like an English dub version of Inuyasha, Medabots, Beyblade, Yugioh, Digimon, Pokemon, Gundam, Card Captor Sakura, Naruto, Bleach, Card captor sakura...etc. At first, I really thought they were the same as the cartoons and vigorously watched! However, as I watched more and more of anime with Japanese opening song/ theme such as Inuyasha, Naruto, Ranma 1/2 and etc made me realize the differences between cartoons and anime. After my parents gave me a computer for my room (I was in middle school with window XP and msn era), I started to marathon watch naruto and bleach, (which I was really into them at the time)... I watched them like there's no tomorrow! Thanks to those two, I started watching other animes through PC as well as enjoying my daily doses of cartoons through TV( I had like everything in my room; TV, computer, Gamecube, Playstation, PS2, PSP and GameBoy...probably was a bad idea). I don't think I have ever bought a CD, DVD and anime figures because of my fear towards my parent. I often stayed late since I was little because my parents came home really late after work all the time. So I stayed up late watching, playing until they come home to greet them. I have met and gotten close with lots of babysitter and tutors until I was a high schooler. I had no problem getting along with any of them, and they even often treated me to a movies, buy me foods, walk around the area secretly...I also had to practice piano 1 hr and 30 minutes and write a diary (which my dad checked, screamed at me if I have skipped any or didn't do according to his plan) every day! I never promised to do any of those but...my dad was like you broke a promise!!!! augh... Other than that, I was alone to watch a cartoon, anime and play video games as I please. Parents like hated me to play outside because they wanted to know my schedule and plan...so I spent most of my time in my house. I got myself a pretty bad rebellious stage when I became high schooler and I pretty much avoided them as much as possible. Well, thanks to that, I watched so many cartoons and anime, and they still find me weird that I watch cartoon even to now xD

Kraft vas Si'yah @mkraft Interesting. Add some of those cartoons to my list too. Oh and totally forgot Pokemon and Digimon too. So yeah, a lot indeed for both of us. I personally started to collect a lot of vhs and dvd's when I got into anime but now I very much focus on manga and novels for my purchases. Mainly because so many series continue in those formats and are the original source.

Kraft vas Si'yah @mkraft Had a ps one, ps2 later, gameboy color and we had a pc too. But outside of the gameboy everything was on the living room / parents bedroom so even though I was spoiled too some supervision happened that I was not gaming all through night. I did perform well in school though so my parents did not limit my love for video games, cartoons and anime at all. They wanted to gave me freedom if I behaved well which I did. So no rebelion or anything happened. My family is pretty mellow all in all. My father actually played some games that we had (still do with rts and puzzle games which is great) and watched a few cartoons / other tv stuff. Just enjoying the time with me.

Kraft vas Si'yah @mkraft Sad to hear that you had to do something that you did not want with the piano. Love and care for a child can become problematic when parents start to expect something from them that they personally had to do or wanted to do but could not. So be it musical instruments, art, sports etc some may cross over the line of forcing / directing a child to do what he/she does not care about. Still nice that you had the games and tv freedom but yeah. Rebelious stage will happen when such things are a part of growing up.

Do you happen to have a childhood anime/cartoon when you were growing up? or what was your first couple of anime you have watched if I may ask? :) I hope you are doing okay!

https://media1.tenor.com/images/28d7730c673c5f52c0f6fabbe5db559d/tenor.gif?itemid=4767764 "Finnish people believe that Santa Claus or Father Christmas lives in the north part of Finland called Korvatunturi (or Lapland), north of the Arctic Circle. People from all over the world send letters to Santa Claus in Finland. There is a big tourist theme park called 'Christmas Land' in the north of Finland, near to where they say that Father Christmas lives." "In Finland, Santa might also be known as Joulupukki! (This really means 'Christmas Goat' as it was traditional in Finland that there was a Yule Goat who was scary and asked people for presents - and certainly didn't give any out! Over time the goat became the gift giver and then Santa took over the gift giving duties but the name of the Christmas Goat was still retained in Finland!) Joulupukki rides with reindeer leaves gifts under the Christmas tree but if you have been naughty you could end up with a bag of coal!" https://www.whychristmas.com/cultures/finland.shtml !!! The place you send your letter to Santa Claus or where Santa lives is in Finland? I only knew that Santa lives somewhere in the North Pole... wow. Have you ever visited Christmas Land before? It sounds like it's like a Disney land there! I kind of get that why reindeers were used! I never knew xD

Bish Lasagna @hakutaku ....it reminded me of postcards sent from that place...
mkraft
Kraft vas Si'yah @mkraft Yeah. We stole Santa Claus for our region ^^. Not sure how as I have not read about the history of it but it might be explained there. Might have been just that it was accepted as such over time. The Yule Goat is something I do remember in some ways being told to me about but have forgotten that fact over the years.

Kraft vas Si'yah @mkraft I may have visited Christmas Land when I was really young if it was there as my family did visit Lapland a few times in holidays. Went to a cottage there. Have a knife as a souvenier still from the region.
mkraft
Kraft vas Si'yah @mkraft Not sure about today as I dont watch tv anymore except at my parents house but we did have a tv program when I was young where children were able to send letters. It was about Santa Claus and he read some of the wishes that were sent to him to Korvatunturi. The whole thing was like a christmas tradition thing with specific shows and animations like "Santa Claus and the magic drum". Very nice.

Kraft vas Si'yah @mkraft Yup. Same for me. Also sad that finding full versions of certain great songs like this one is really difficult.
