Yeah, there are quite a number of people with Belgian heritage in South Africa. I have some Belgian ancestors on my mon's side too. Dutch and Flemish are quite close so it's easy to understand. Mieke is a cool name though.

I speak Afrikaans. A dialect of Dutch that is spoken here in South Africa. South Africa was originally a Dutch colony before the English took over. Uyt means "out" right?
