We do not celebrate Thanksgiving in the way that you have there. We have had a celebration of the ending harvest which is named "Kekri". Mixture of Thanksgiving and Halloween in a sense. But that tradition has almost entirely died out when the industrialization and advancement in technology happened past farming. Seen in the picture there is a character dressed as a goat and the goat floating in a river. That is the "Kekripukki" or Kekrigoat that goes around, asks if the harvest has been done in time and makes sure that everyone has enough food. Everyone in the village was meant to share food during this time and if not then the creature threatened to do mischief on the house (pretty much trick or treat in a sense). At the end of Kekri the goat is then burned to mark the end of celebration and the harvest season. http://www.kekri.fi/images/ope_hahmot.jpg https://lahiruoka.files.wordpress.com/2010/11/satellite1.jpg Now the closest celebration to getting together and saying thanks to nature etc is the midsummer festival in my opinion these days. In terms of being thankful for friends and family, well that would probably be christmas for us in here. We have independence day on december but it is generally a holiday only with some specific tv programs. A bit odd that it is not more concidering our history but yeah. Christmas is more for getting together, being with family and visiting our relatives graves. Being thankful towards the family etc. We finns are so solitude loving people that having a seperate day for Thanksgiving idea might be a bit of a hassle that people don't want anymore.

Lynes @lynesis I see! Do Finland do something like Trick or Trick during Halloween or even celebrate? Like getting all dressed up as a monster/ghost/etc and getting a candy from a neighborhood? Halloween is really a big thing where I live...

Kraft vas Si'yah @mkraft There might be some children doing that but that kind of thing generally happens during easter in here than during the Halloween. During easter children go from door to door and say a rhyme to drive of evil spirits and to get candy as a reward. Translation from the rhyme that I found is: I wave a twig for a fresh and healthy year ahead; a twig for you, a treat for me! So we have that kind of thing already. For Halloween it's more like dressing up by people in home, for party and eating candy. For many Halloween is still a thing that we do not really celebrate/have. Many think it as a commercial thing as we have that easter thing already.
