I gotta check out Saya no Uta some time then^
I enjoyed Black Lagoon a lot too. And I think Gen Urobuchi also worked on「Phantom:requiem for the phantom」, which is another touching and heart-wrenching story. It has a beautiful ED as well:

Looks like an interesting discovery! I didn't know much about it but I'll look into that.
As to Saya no Uta, I've only heard it's a heart-wrenching story, but never checked it out myself. You seem to be a big fan of it?

Harnessing the energy is indeed important, but what happens after the sun goes down?
Storage of harnessed energy is itself a challenge. In fact, transforming energy from sunlight to storable chemical energy is what drives our study of electron transfer in coordination compounds in our lab.
It's kind of a Holy Grail for many chemists, and is not easy to achieve at all.
