I saw two temples today~Both are from folk beliefs~

Lishifu @hakutaku I think they got paid to chant the scriptures for the dead. They aren't really nuns, most are volunteers who have been into Buddhism. It is a real achievement, two decades ago the monastery next to my home is so small(and residents nearby lived in some rooms), the old nun was insightful, she saved all the donated money (for at least 50 years) and managed to buy a new and wider place from the government for the monastery.

Ghost @kuharido That's a lot of dedication and patience. Must feel rewarding for them to volunteer aswell.
