Ghost @kuharido I had moxibustion and cupping done on me before. A lot of traditional methods like acupuncture, qigong, lifestyle changes seem better for chronic conditions. Then modern medicine for more acute issues. I think it's good to be mindful of both.

In China, students who study traditional medicine also have to learn modern medicine, but students of modern medicine don't have to traditional medicine. In the eyes of people, traditional medicine is controversial and may be a pseudoscience. It's true that our traditional medicine doesn't look quite reliable, for example those weird prescriptions passed down from the ancient times where some outlandish materials like 紫河车/dried womb are mentioned...At the very beginning, 巫/shamans and 医/doctors were the same thing...so in traditional medicine,at least in classics about it, a few practices aren't "scientific" at all...
