The most reason why adolescent stories are many is that film makers think main consumer of anime is teenagers and young adults. Now almost half of Japanese younger people goes to a college or university but it is still half. So makers aim to sale the BD and DVD or goods, they need to set the co-experience of the generation and their society, then, It is the high school days. thus, the anime has many stories around adolescent ages, I think.
