I've always wanted to hunt deer, but my dad can't stand the cold. So he's only ever taken us hunting for squirrels. They taste pretty decent w/ ginger and some herbs. I have a few elders who hunt deer though, so I've grown to like the flavor over the years. I'd like to do some hunting on my own, but I don't know where you'd go to hunt.

I think he does the usual. The pig gets shot or its throat is sliced, if it isn't shot it's throat is still sliced to drain the blood. Then you scrape off the hair w/ hot water and burn the skin, then scrub off the burnt extremities. Then it's time to butcher. We used to use everything in the pig, organs and all, but now we only take a few of the more popular organ pieces, like the heart, liver and maybe kidneys. My parents butchered their own livestock mainly to save on costs, plus you know where your food is coming from and there are most likely not a whole lot of chemicals in your meat. I think cows and deer are easier to butcher, since you just skin them.

Are you like deep in the woods? Did you know you could buy poultry, eggs, veggie and groceries from the Amish? My dad buys and butchers a few pigs a year.

Nice variety. Do you need any special preparation for fall and winter? My mom doesn't have a green house, so she just covers her stuff w/ tarps, so the ground won't be too frozen come spring. Have you thought about raising some chickens or rabbit for food? My dad raised chickens for a few years, it was tough work, especially b/c they're prone to infections and the cold easily.

That seems like a lot of varied work. Reminds me of the time I interviewed a guy at a pc recycling center. I'm actually not much into creativity. It kind of died out in me once I hit middle school. Some day I'd like to get back into drawing though. I always enjoyed drawing up mythical creatures. What do you grow in your greenhouse? My mom would kill for a greenhouse.

Interesting, well I already have a virtual box set up w/ linux for school purposes, so I could always mess around on there. But it doesn't seem very interesting, probably b/c it was an older version of linux. Do you work as an engineer or in IT?

Interesting. I haven't tested the dark waters due to concerns about safety myself. I'm just interested to see what I can find on there. I hear it's mostly drugs. I'm actually at MSOE in my senior year, so yea I'm somewhat defintely into tech.
