What have I gotten myself into?!! haha. Alright, I'm going to be really open here, brace yourself!
As someone who's denounced anime for most of his life, all it took was one day of boredom and Elfen Lied to just hook me in. A story as tragic as it was beautiful - I quickly realized that this medium is not to be cast off so quickly. Anime has since (ohhh for the last two years or so?) been the huge majority of the television i've watched. I only have one friend who's a known fan like myself. I would like some more!
But that's why I'm here. Who am I, you ask? I guess the largest driving force in my life at the moment is my love of music. I'm the guitarist/backing vocalist of a progressive metal band. We spent the last 3 years recording a d.i.y. album. There have been many hiccups along the way, but i'm so excited to be close to playing shows again. I spent a stint working as an engineer in a Buffalo studio, until I needed to find something new to pay the bills. I listen to classical, jazz, blues and anime soundtrack/other j-pop, but a majority of bands i listen to are metal. Bands like Anubis Gate, Katatonia, Mercenary, Communic, Therion - heavy but melodic... mostly :)
Everything else in comparison to those two seem really minor. I enjoy bowling, video games, learning japanese (to hopefully visit Japan someday - and after that will follow other languages/countries), I recently began taking a liking to working out (who would've thought???). I enjoy trying new experiences. I don't work a glamorous job despite being a college grad, but I get in my 40+ hours and pay the bills. So all's good! So long as I can fund my hobbies!
