Not entirely. I'm kind of trying to mull things over in my head. I'm trying to get in the process of outlining things before I start them. It reduces me getting stuck in the middle I think. What type of research are you doing?

And just to let you know, it's quite to mix up Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance. The difference between them is quite small, like very small. And again, I have nothing against Romance of any variety. LOL.

You really should. It's really good genre. Not all of Urban Fantasy is Romance, or rather an extension of it. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of it. However, I would say Paranormal Romance is more an extension of Romance than Urban Fantasy. Now, Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance are very, very closely related but there are difference. Paranormal Romance focuses on love first and foremost while Urban Fantasy wouldn't. Also J.R. Ward is more Paranormal Romance, in my opinion anyway. :p And sorry I got back to you so late. >.<

Well I've read J.R. Ward books, and I have Dresden Files on my Ipad just haven't got around to reading them. I might give it read. it's funny though urban fantasy seems to be an extension of romance novels just more entertaining and some respects and a more badassness (not a real word). But I started romance for the duels and the sex scenes when I was like fifteen so why not.

Keep in mind, I'm still kind of new to the genre myself. So, I don't know everything. xD But this is all just what I've learned so far. I would really suggest looking at some of the popular authors in the genre to get a better hang of it. Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson series, The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, and some other people are good places to start. Well, Urban Fantasy(UF) can include any kind of monster. It doesn't just have to be vampires and werewolves, though you could write about them. The reason why it's Urban is due to the fact that the city is the setting. It can be in any time period but it would have to take place in a city, even a small one. Also your "dark and gritty" level can range down any kind of spectrum, meaning you can write very light hearted or you can write something that's almost horror or a Modern Gothic, if that makes sense. Urban Fantasy, in my opinion, is very versatile because you can include many different elements to your story(Romance, Horror, Mystery, Thriller, etc.). Also in some cases it might be hard to get what you write described as UF so, yeah. But the main thing is taking place in a city; it can be historical or one you made up but it has to be some kind of city.

Oh, there's nothing wrong with writing Romance. It's just I realized it wasn't for me anymore, writing wise. I still read them though. They were good for learning about building relationships and stuff.

With August Camp, I don't know. I'll be starting college back during that month too. Then again, my finals are almost directly after NanoWrimo. >.< So, I'm trying to decide if I'm going to do August Camp or NanoWrimo, but I doubt I'll be able to pull of both. I'm just going to try to finish up my June Camp story either. I have about 16K for it right now. (I wrote two novellas during June Camp instead of a full novel).

I'm slowly trying to learn how to write novel-length projects and things of that nature. I would share something with you but none of my stuff is recent. I only have old(and bad >.<) stuff posted up. Haha.

Believe it or not, I'm also a writer. :p I mostly write Urban Fantasy though. I've been writing for about six years (including my fan fiction years and the off and on years). I've just started writing things longer than short stories. I just finished a novella, and I'm working on another one right now. I actually just finished doing June Camp NanoWrimo. I'm also on a writer's forum; they've really helped build my skills and determine what I like to write. (I was a Romance writer before but it was starting to get "meh")
