Now that you mention it, yandere could become the new trend. It's becoming more and more popular and the yandere characters are also becoming increasingly popular. A good number of new anime like "Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace" are also darker in tone.

Really dark and monotone? Yeah, like you've said, I don't think it'll catch on. Moe will probably remain a fixture in the anime world but there is always something new on the horizon. Maybe it will be a variation of moe.

I hope it will be around forever. It will be interesting to see what directions the anime industry take in the future. I guess Moe has been the biggest trend the last couple of years but I wonder what's next?
