well some pet's are better off neutered for their own safety if they're not kept indoors... like dogs... a male dog will wander around every time a female in the area is in heat... and that's often how they get run over.
His name is gizmo and I adopted him 3-4 years ago.

For instance; in the us they tend to descent and spay/castrate them surgically. Both mistakes.
descenting is useless and only causes unnecessary pain to the ferret, it is actually illegal in Europe.
Surgical sterilization is not-advised as it reduces the ferret's life expectancy; It causes a disequilibrium in the hormones which makes them prone to adrenal disease when they are older. It is advised to use an implant insted, which very few people do even in Europe and it drives me mad.
Don't even get me started on the whole breeding industry here in the u.s. Marshall ferrets for example...The way the animals are treated in those facilities is horrendous, and they sell them tattooed and sterilized and descented... and if it dies you can actually go to the pet store and they give you a "new one" like some kind of merchandise it's disgusting.
They don't care about the ferret's well being, it's a fucking business. The whole pet industry is a fucking business especially here in America! It makes me sick that they would trade lives as if they were no more than material possessions it drives me insane.
At least in Europe they're starting to take measures against it, and you're actually able to find ferrets with local breeders or particulars that are more likely to be socialized and well taken care of.
And a mistake I see newbies making all the time is thinking ferrets are flipping' rodent's! or using wood shavings in their cage! or leaving them in a cage like some vulgar hamster!
There so much wrong with how ignorant people are concerning ferrets, not even the breeders or the pet shops care for them well. That's why i discourage anybody from getting one just "because they're cute"
Also they're bitey and need to be tamed because more often than not they're not well socialized, so not a pet for a 10yr old brat.
Sorry, I feel very strongly about this subject so I tend to get carried away...

well they're honestly the best pet's ever, playful like a kitten (without the claws), they also sleep alot... they can very affectionate as well and sociable! however it's not a pet i suggest buying on impulse, especially not in the us where there are still huge progresses to be made... I could go int specifics but i would bore you lol.
