Awesome! My first motherboard was an MSI A78M-E45 V2 which had served me well through the years (since 2015) since my first pc build. I was happy with it, and it was the first board that introduced me to uefi and virtualization capabilities (amd-v and iommu) even on such an entry level board/platform. I happen to dual boot windows and linux for the longest time and have stumbled across a few hiccups along the way trying to determine which hardware is best suited for my use case. The good news is, the RX 580 does seem to have a purpose in my use case (due to driver support on linux) if I were to implement KVM along with an nvidia card (for gpu passthrough) later down the line. I've heard many good things about msi products, as such msi has been one of the few reliable brands when it comes to motherboards and gpus. For the price, msi does have a lot to offer on the x470 platform ^ ^ I do appreciate their high end offerings (overclocking potential) and their aesthetics have always been visually appealing most notably their dragon logo/theme. Reliability is important to me, its good that hardware manufacturers are considerate and implement the necessary features to serve that purpose for the long-term.

Fellow Nerd! Thanks for all the info .. I was watching some 'linusch tech tips' regarding RAM speed/timing etc
They where basicly saying is minor difference from value perspective, however... If you test it and you say you felt the difference .. :D
I trust you :)
I was intel 'boi' for long time, I got i7 years back and due to intel not doing much ...Was such a good deal!
..but with all 4K rendering etc. I slowly start to feel 'age' of the system. Maby not so much processor, but MO .. I need to start my PC 2x sometimes becasue MO is old ... and I can't realy get new MO ..coz they cost as much as new AMD (yes!) ...
Yers back when one of MO failed I already had hard time to get good one.
You could get all the cheap ones (poor chip sets), but all good chipsets where basicly gone or prices where ultra high.
...and from the looking up ... 2700X felt like right choice to me .. watched some much YT ... and more and more I looked ..more I was sure is time for ryzen ...as with all i9 crap that Intel did ... I was realy getting fed up with them.
Good info about asus boards :D Thanks!
Just a little tip for you .. I was working for 10 years in PCB industry (printec circuit boards) ..and I was making all prototypes for Sony, Bentley, Aircraft etc ... and from all my digging out .. I would realy recomend MSI .. they way they test the boards and component they use.. If you can afford MSI ...MSI should last years. Talking from my 10 years of experience :)
That why I went with MSI 1070 ... wanted to last :)
p.s. I upgraded my 5 year old case with new fans .. I will post later ... looks sexy now :D

One thing to note, I wish I had gone with an nvidia card due to better opengl support for some of the applications I use. Your 1070 would be a good pair for the ryzen 7 2700x ^ ^

Nice specs ^ ^ on my ryzen system I had personally felt the difference between low frequency ram to high (when I didn't set the xmp profiles properly after updating the bios on my mb) If you're going to render, just be mindful on how much ram you actually need leading into the long-term if you plan to upgrade later down the line. Ryzen is a beastly cpu, very well rounded for most applications however games that run on dx9 and rely heavily on single core performance you should experience some small performance hits in those scenarios. (from my own personal experience) All x470 boards should get the job done regardless of vender, and the only defining factors between boards are the feature set such as ethernet, ram slots, and m.2 availability (asus is the only brand that I know of that supports gen 3 m.2 speeds on both slots) The stock cooler is really nice, and should serve you well in the long term. X470 and Ryzen + has proven to be a stable platform in regards to ram compatibility ^ ^
