I often wonder who was the first person to milk a cow and what was going through their head at that moment.

That is a real good question, considering human stomachs were not designed or cow milk. While agrarian life was starting to set in, you also had nomadic hunter/gatherer groups that were experimenting with animal husbandry and domestication. Some time into it, when cows were brought in, humans would have probably helped newer calfs acclimate to the world around them. My guess is, one human notices that there's a calf that appears to be staring off into space while the others are feeding. Probably born blind or something. So said human guides the calf over to the mother, then after grabbing one of the utters to make it easier for the calf to find, he notices it squirts out when he squeezes. He gets curious and tastes it, and for whatever reason decides he likes it. Centuries later, the herding peoples build more of a tolerance to milk, and they start to trade with the Agrarian groups. And thus animal husbandry is brought into their more permanent lifestyle. You then had one group sail out of Africa with the monsoons with their cows, make landfall in India, and migrate up to the Caucuses. Then over time, they venture into that Peninsula made up of smaller peninsulas (Europe) and further north into the Himalayas. But there were other groups who got there before them who never had cow milk. Like the Native Americans for example. Let's fast forward to the age of the vikings, when they make landfall in the Americas. After a few cultural misunderstandings between the Norse and the native tribes of the northwest Americas, things were rather tense. Still, things simmered down since their last conflict, and you had some trade going on. The Sagas write about how they then decided to show the natives a cow. And then they decide to go on and show them what the cow can provide them. So they milk it into a cup, take a drink from it, and hand it to the natives. When the natives tried it, they had such a severe allergic reaction to it that they accused the Norse of trying to poison them. The norse of course think they're just making this up, because they have no concept of what Lactose Intolerance is, and so the feuding starts up again. But seriously. What the hell was going through that OG dude's head when he thought that it would be a good idea to drink moo cow juice?
