There were this large hurricanes...that in the eye would freeze anything and everything that couldn't produce enough heat. It froze people in seconds...

Even though I would rather a village be covered I lava coming at them from all sides and coming at them slowly so they die slowly and full of fear.

Bit when frozen they don't necessarily die immediately...they sit there suspended until you come by with a hammer and break them apart
