criselington EVs have been around since gen 2 and the modern IV system has been around since gen 3. Only difference is that they made items to control the probability of hatching competitive mons over time. Don't worry, the games just do a piss poor job at explaining this stuff and what items like the power items and destiny knot do. Even then, they are not required to complete the game just mainly for online battles.

@audiosenpai Poke Pelago Sucked ass, Why the hell did they get rid of super training? that was objectively better! Ohmori-sans response? "We LeIk tO tRy NeW tHiNgS!" which would be good in of itself, but they are clearly not careful with this practice.
