I would only hate a specific character if they literally add nothing beneficial to the show or are annoying as all hell. (insert English dub). Or in the case of berserk where everything is a watered down knockoff of the original. Edit: Yuki from Mirai Nikki is an example of a character that at times would genuinely rub me the wrong way. Not terrible but there were moments where I contemplated doing something else because the entertainment value had gone down the drain for me.
