In some senses it is, but not in a permanent sense. The downright lack of substance in series lately I think has put a damper on things. All of the moe boom nonsense will die out and a lot of people might drop out, but the true fans will stay with it. As far as Anime as an industry, it's suffering the same things as music and film in this rapidly changing era. I am confident, however, that the industry will soon adapt and anime will be great once again. Also, hopefully production companies in Japan will begin to pay decent wages to their animators as opposed to the $2 average nowadays.

What, is it really? I honestly can't tell I'm discovering new series that I like every week. If that's based off of sales at stores like..lets say Best Buy, then the solution is quite obvious to me. Stop fucking overcharging for anime! I saw a Fullmetal Alchemist boxset at a recent convention & it was only half the damn series, but was over $60 because it had a damn character guide with it! I don't want a damn book with my anime. I can watch the series to know who the characters are duh! All the Ah My Goddess merchandise was super expensive because it's in a kind of prime of popularity as well as Vampire Knight & a few others. However things that aren't that popular anymore or not considered classics that still make Japan a shit ton of money, (Evangelion) were rather cheap, or not present in any merchandise form.

Life death and resurection anime trends wax and wane been watch anime as long as I've been alive so I'm pretty confident that it's not going anywhere. I remember when the U.S. Anime market was non-existant and we used to trade around garage dubs and bootleg the hell out of them. No conventions, no cosplayers no Internetsites cartering to otaku interest and having to buy manga on import just to look at the pictures if you can't read japanese. The dark ages.

Exactly what I was thinking well said kurokame. Where in the world can you even buy the imports because companies here piss me off with their anti-fantranslated crap like it's loosing them all their profit. People read a manga online, then go right out & buy it if it's worth buying. It would be no different if you buy it & tell the rest of the world it sucks & then no one buys it.

There are some animes that insist on making some animes 100+ episodes. That to me is a serious waste of money.
