I know how you feel. That's why I started preparing myself for conversations before starting them. It helps a little to know what I'm going to say before I need to say it. Of course, I'm still stiff and awkward when someone I don't know well starts a conversation with me.

Well, what you need to do is befriend a social butterfly. It may be hard, but get a person alone. Then said person will introduce you to all sorts of people. If that step is way too big, start wearing anime related clothing or accessories. Someone who knows about anime, will more than likely talk to you about it. Being scared is a choice. You can choose to change yourself, or stay the same.

I've been socially awkward as long as I can remember even before elementary school. I've never been able to talk to people well. I never know what to say. I'm always quiet and I never really talk much unless it's about games or anime. I've always been more comfortable with texting or talking online.

I was socially awkward and shy when I was younger til high school. After I said to myself I wasn't living life fully, so I try to be more social. During my first college I made tons of friends, felt more confident, etc.
Now I am a social butterfly but I do have my shy moments. Its not easy but once you get there, you did it.

I'm stuck in that in between group, like wanting to meet new people but not losing my own social circle. I'm with those type of people that are not as acceptable to strangers as I am. I'm kinda worried about the future

It's important to be yourself and be proud of it. What does it matter what they think of you? You will always the friends you've been searching for, is it from your school, from here or somewhere else. I'm sorta the well-known kid in school. Everybody knows me an talks to me, but I like being a loner and I always be. They look friendly, but they try to make fun of me. I always smile and I am still friendly. That makes me a bit weird, though. But the important part is to be yourself. If you push yourself to be someone else you are not, you only will have friends that only care for that personality. I don't really have friends, but that's because I like being a loner. But I still care for my friends. It's important to appreciate what you already have. And then you'll look forward to what you can have. ^^

I found just being sincere is the best way. Practice makes perfect other than that. As long as you're willing to try and keep going at it you'll get better. c:
