It's the muffuk'n weekend! >D
Originally I was hired at a place as an illustrator.
But the economy tanked, jobs were downsized and those of who kept our positions took on the jobs that the people that were let go had done.
Now illustration seems to be what I do in my spare time while I'm on the clock.

@xueli if you said weeks that would have been nice. 48 hour days is too crazy

It really depends on what I'm working on. If I'm traveling, then I'm pretty much working through the term 24/7 with a couple of hours of travel time/sleeping time in between and maybe a couple of days off. If I'm just in the studio I'm just pulling some 12-18 hours shifts here and there, basically so long as everything gets done in the time I quoted the clients

That still sounds rough. I can barley handle my 40 hour weeks let alone 12-18 hour shifts at a time. So I take it that you are a freelance artist?

I work as a wastewater treatment operator for an industrial company. The work isn't to bad. I'm certified d level physical/chemical wastewater. I'm going for my d level biological on Friday. I've been in the field for about a year and a half now. I love my job. I make around 45k a year. I'm pretty fortunate to have the job I do so I can't complain. I also work night shift 9pm-5am. Wastewater is a gold mine since we pollute the hell out of water to produce almost everything we make.

If you ever decide to apply for a wastewater position let me know man. You don't need any college experience just a company willing to train you and they will set you up with your state training permit. Then from there you can further your career with licenses through the state.

I'm a hairstylist and freelance face/body painter. I work at a national chain so it's nice not having to worry about commissions. As a body painter, I get money right then and there, but it takes anywhere from 6-14 hours for a single piece since I don't airbrush. It's so fun, however, it hurts my back after the first hour ;_;
