Too Nerdy for normal dating.

huogir
This is one of the issues I've been having with this site and what I believe others have been also. I think there is a level where you just couldn't be with someone of the opposite sex who doens't have a bit of the passions you have. Everyone came to this site not for friends but for the chance to find someone with similiar passions/intrests in the beginning. Now I feel that like alot of people would agree that it's turning into more a social networking site. I joined here because I was done of all those other dating sites that had a list that was basically a job application form. I wanted to find a gal who was just as passionate about anime, nerd stuffs, and having fun at anime conventions but it seems like the site needs to be changed around a bit. I suppose I been ranting but anywho stay classy san diego

I think what you say is true to a point, but people have different ways of finding that special someone. Getting to know a bunch of people like a social group then becoming attracted to someone from that group over time.

Mmm, to be honest, I came on this site out of curiosity. Not to say I'm not open to the idea of a relationship that started on here, but I'm not that hopeful. Probably cause I'm not so big on the long distance aspect that pops up with online dating

Well that's why this site apparently has a search for people in your area. To an otaku near you ;P

This is a large majority of the reason I'm single. I'm probably the "nerdiest" person where I live besides a good friend of mine that outclasses me a bit in other areas. I'm not necessarily trying too hard in the dating game or whatever you want to say for a few reasons, but a lot of it is because I honestly would prefer to have a partner that enjoys the same kind of "nerdy" material that I do, and down here that's kinda hard... scratch that, REALLY hard to find. There's a convention coming up around where I live and I thought I might try there a bit and see how that goes, but more of in a joking manner. I'm gonna be dressed up as Optimus Prime and I thought I might go around saying car/robot related pick up lines just for the hell of it. Figured I could make some new friends that way and see how that goes, but not setting my sights too high because that's when people start to get butthurt over getting turned down (the FRIENDZONE if you will that people whine about).

Isn't nerdy things a bit more acceptable in this day and age? Age of the geek and all that? I wouldn't think just being into nerdy things is that much of a turn off now

Yea. Who knows maybe that friend maybe the romantic interest of tomorrow. I have been single for longer then I would like to admit, but it s hard to go from hi to lets be in a relationship without the getting to know the person in between. While it is not impossible it is very rare. I would love to find that special someone, but gotta meet them first hehe.
