So, ya... this does get annoying. Most of my life people have been telling me how I am going to do great things and be a huge success and how other people are going to be like, "crap, maybe I really should I have been nicer to him"... I mean yes, I am a highly intelligent and creative person, but people saying this does get annoying.
The most recent example happened just this morning, we were having a fairly open discussion(our class is like family) and suddenly my teach(she is the bomb! best teacher i have ever had, no doubt!) says, "you know Avery gets is on the receiving end on a lot of jokes and has had some fun at his expense, but you know what, in a few years when he gets his book published you guys are going to be like, 'hey Avery, remember me? we had fun in criminal justice.'"(there may be a few inaccuracies in the wording, but that is generally what she said) That is the long story short for the whole conversation. Most of the time i just think to myself, in a very sarcastic mental voice, "no pressure" However, after thinking about that throughout today, I realized it does get annoying, when people are always giving you high praise and have high expectations.
So what are people's thoughts on high expectations?

Live with it. People will always have expectations but you have to make sure to live up to your own expectations. Its a lot of pressure sure but its all about you man no one else

S' right just gotta be good to your self. I used to put up on a high pedestal but as I grew older you have to follow your expectations. People shouldnt force their ideals to you. Just take it in stride people will always do that when they someone with talent. Take it as a compliment. I would if I were you :D

I know how that feels, the same thing you said heaven to me, heck is still even happened to me today. when I was younger, around 6 or 7 years of age, everyone continuously told me that I should either be a basketball player or a model. anytime I told them that I do not like those compliments and I do not want to be called them again, my teachers would get mad at me and tell me to just accept the compliment.
When we had to decide what we wanted to be when we grow up and I told him I wanted to either be an accountant or an animator, they told me that is the dumbest thing that they have ever heard and I should just be a model.
Then later on, they forced me to be on the basketball team because they said I look like a professional . My mother did not want me to be on any team because I had weak lungs and if I continuously ran for a while, I would get sick or pass out. However they did not listen, and I did pass out, and they said I'm not fit enough and they made me run for 3 hours after I game was over, then I had to go to the hospital for 2 days because they would not listen.
now, people consistently placing me a high above the rest of everybody else. They keep on saying that I will be good and so many topics that I am NOT even good at. it has honestly became more stressful than elementary school. no matter what I think I do for a hobby like programming, VA singing, costume making, or even an amazing, people believe that I should be doing better than what I am already. And it depressed me.
about 2 years ago I saw the same teacher who told me I should be a model, and when she notice that my hair was shorter she asked are you still going to be a model I commented that I never said I was going to be a model. She said I throwing away a good future, like my hair length,..

Throwing away a future is a harsh thing to say

I hate high expectations: I was in the top-10 in my high school (it was too easy, I could've graduated in my sophmore year and probably still been in the top-10. Problem is I was very good in sciences, history and English, OK with math but absolutely lazy. I never applied myself because even taking 1st-level college courses was easy - I graduated with a 4.1 GPA because my school promoted college credits to a 5.0 credit. But I was always compared to the top brass. My dad would say : "Why can't you beat him?" I said because I would have a mental breakdown trying to do the amount of shit he did. I made my parents even more frustrated when I turned down club offers, such as Beta and National Honors. The reason? I hated community service. Met some of the worst people ever in those programs so I declined the invitations. Now I'm in college and my first semester was a 3.0. Nothing special, at all. My cousin got a 3.2 but she's a party animal pursing a communication degree - I could get one of those if I wanted to pretty easily I imagine, but I don't like writing long as hell papers about language theory. I'm over here taking some of the hardest courses in college: Calculus 2, and Physics Lab. The Physics lab is set up by one of those Ph.D guys whose lab manual is an indecipherable ream of expensive toilet paper.

gotta live with it though. it sucks but what are you going to do? blow up in everyones face? sure it helps but the only reason why people have high expectations from what i have observed in my experiences is because they really believe you can accomplish great things and wish to see you accomplish them. in the end its not about beating anyone really its just about being able to accomplish what you can achieve. besides its your life, shouldnt let people overly burden you so at the end of the day it still falls back to what you are gunna do to respond to what they tell you. either take it as a compliment or just ignore it entirely. can go somewhere in the middle of course too.
