Suggestions for us male otaku.

Any suggestions for those trying to attract a girl they have never talked to before? How do you go about making a good first impression, what's coming on to strong and what isn't showing enough interest or acting more like a friend, where is that line? Do girls really like the dude that kinda acts like a dick but in a funny way not a total asshole way? (recently I was suggested to act more this way by a friend of mine and see if it worked for me) I don't feel like that's me I'm a sweetheart and a gentleman always have been, do I really need to change that to get a girl? I mean I can be goofy and funny and mess with my friends from time to time but usually I am more polite to those I am attracted to. Then again girls and friends always tell me to just be me and someone will like me but so far I've been me for 21 years now and I'm always the friend or "it isn't going to work out" is always the answer I get when I'm ready to go steady, I don't know if that means there's something wrong with me or what but something needs to change this year because I'm tired of it. :!

Well, what i've seen is that most male otaku dont know how to make the first move with a girl which is very important. most girls (well maybe not me) are too nervous to be the first person to introduce the topic of a relationship. It;s also important to be very clear what you want and expect. all too often people have acted like just a friend and expected me to realize that they wanted to date. the thing that drives me away most is when i dont know what a guy wants.. if out of the blue you show up and pretend to be my friend that creeps me out. but to be quite honest, i love boys who are dicks in funny ways. i actually like the challenge of it because im such a loud outspoken girl. honestly though, the best thing to do to find a relationship is stop looking. i kid you not, they sneak up on you like that. or thats how they always seemed to happen for me. (i'm also starting to feel like the female voice on dating in here haha xD)

Wear some deodorant and bathe yourselves. Lol. Kinda joking. But I've noticed at conventions that a lot of guys just smell. No I don't go around sniffing people but smells are pretty powerful things. Showing you take care of yourself is half the battle.

In all seriousness do not be pushy, 1 compliment to let them know that you're interested should suffice. pay attention to body language. be positive and respectful and strike up a non creepy conversation. Like Dr. House's shrink once said " I find hello to be an excellent ice breaker."

There's a really interesting article on cracked: http://www.cracked.com/blog/6-harsh-truths-that-will-make-you-better-person/, that I find to be pretty accurate, but that people can get kinda offended by the tone and whatnot. It's pretty harsh, but if you look past that though, I think the advise and insight of it is actually pretty on point in terms of relationships and well, life in general.

this link has been surprisingly helpful so far I think I had this realization of the same facts it brings up last night but was more pissed of about it than receptive of how good it might be for me. BTW this has so far been about me but I posted it for all male otaku so if anyone else has anything they need help with feel free to post I just posted things I have trouble with as I feel like the average male otaku.

Also @Yuusaku I feel as though I have great hygiene but I knoiw where you are coming from. I know a few people who could do better in taking care of them selves in that respect especially in the otaku or geek/nerd/anime/comic/videogame lover comunity.
