It can, and has worked. Both sides need to be committed though, I can't really say that you need to put "living together eventually" as a priority. Even with long distance, you need to learn about the person you're with before you starting planning out your entire futures. My gf and I are long distance and coming up on our anniversary, it can work. It's not extremely easy though.

I will try to be more optimistic like most people and say that it can happen. But the probability of long distance relationships working out is slim. Quick Stats: > 14 million couples define themselves as having a long distance relationship > 3.75 million married couples are in a long distance relationship > 32.5 % of all long distance relationships are college relationships > 75 % of all engaged couples have been (at some point) in a long distance relationship > 2.9 % of all married couples in the states live in a long distance relationship > 10 % of all marriages in the states started out as a long distance relationship source: http://www.longdistancerelationshipstatistics.com/

=Local relationship= PRO: Easier to hangout and more affordable. CON: Fewer fitting people to relate to and can be hard to avoid one or more of them. =Long-distance relationship= PRO: Easier to find online. CON: More difficult to afford and meet as well as possibly get married to.

Yeah I can understand that some forms of long-distance relationships can be good but then on the other hand some can be hard to deal with because it's best to be social in a long distance relationship then be in a long distance relationship that won't matter later on.

Never works if you don't spend time together in my opinion.

Almost all of my relationships have been exclusively online with the only one I've met irl taking a two hour drive with no traffic to visit. To me being in person is a luxury. I also feel the most like myself online. In person I'm quiet and reserved. Here I feel able to talk and express how I'm feeling.
