sometimes you have to lower yourself to someone else's immaturity to actually achieve something (first time i got him to actually leave me alone, big accomplishment for science)

looking for debates on veganism on a ethical standpoint just name the trait that animals possess that allowed you to forgo their moral consideration

Hi Lamby! I can't really debate ya, but!! I heard from a podcast that plants might be able to feel and react to pain and stress. I did a bit of google fu. I found this. https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/507590v4.full The researchers has claimed no conflicting interests in this research.

I think eating a lot less meat or no meat is better for the environment btw. I do wonder though, if plants are also in the level as animals in regards to feelings such as pain, would that be an ethical problem???

depends your definition of scientific its mostly philosophical, but i have debated for the environmental affects of veganism as well as health, so maybe that counts? @wik iv had multiple debates on this and the issue is the term 'feel' reacting to stimuli doesn't = pain and suffering, its simply a very, very primitive way of self preservation even if i were to grant (which I'm not) that plants were sentient, the main principle of veganism is do as "little" harm and suffering as reasonably possible, so i would bring up that plants would be the very basic threshold for sentients, and as sentients is indeed a spectrum, and you have to eat something to live, i would say eating plants would still be causing the least harm and suffering as reasonably possible, as our other option would be to simply die. hope that answers that

you could bring up that harvesting crops does indeed kill small animals like rodents as well as insects through pesticides, but to say 'there for we should eat meat' makes no sense nothing is completely without harm, but veganism is simply about the reduction of harm
