I cannot see Franco and Pinochet as Fascists. Fascism is inherently anti-liberal (and by liberalism I say classical liberalism, egalitarism, market freedom and etc., not the bullshit we see in Europe, as it would be anachronistic) and reactionary to the point of upholding Paganism to restore western traditions (do you think the Holy Roman Empire is a model for them?). They are, indeed authoritarian on their own right (Pinochet against commies and dissidents; Franco/Salazar against any kind of non-Catholic or those who doesn't follow Pius X's Oath Against Modernity). But Pinochet still didn't care jackshit about the Spanish tradition of Chile, he played a huge role in the modernization of it over a pile of bodies (helicopter rides go whee) and made it a vassal state to the US, a major enemy to any self-proclaimed Fascist. Today, Chile is one of the "better" places to live in Latin America, but at what cost? Franco (and by extension, Salazar, too), on the other hand, while he saw Liberalism as a threat, he didn't see the Church as an instrument to merely maintain his power (like Mussolini and Hitler did), but as a way of upholding Catholicism in Spain and halt secularism and modernity. He dismissed Fascism as a "brother of Liberalism and Socialism", due to its thinkers' views on Christianity as a tool to avoid an uprising by the major Catholic population of Italy (minority in Germany) and the minor of Germany (which, fuck even some Bishops sympathized with Hitler). Fine, we could argue about Clerical Fascism, but tbh only some minority of Catholics agree with that, which is kinda contradicting even by the word of the Popes starting by Pius XII and, futurely the Second Vatican Council, which most rad-trad Catholics hate with a passion, some even to the point of becoming Sedevacantists. Even rad-trads (who sympathize with the SSPX) dismiss Fascism for the same reason Franco and Salazar did. And the only things I can see myself agreeing with Fascists is over Patriarchy and period. Ah, of course, also certain disdain for "art and intellectualism". Beauty is objective in my view and one of the bad things of modernity and capitalism is its utilitarism/positivism... "value what is useful, profitable and scientific (SOLELY scientific), not what it's beautiful/meaningful". State should be a beacon of virtue, not being a beacon of populism and positivism. It might sound contradicting in the age we live. But that's my utopian thought.
