Incest is bad because of the low variation is a short time span. A race as enough variation in a long enough time span for it to be okay. :3

"yes but when you mix races you get the benefits from both" - no you don't. You get benefits as well as disadvantages. The only thing you can do by mixing races is preventing incest. Just assume this. You have your perfect dog breed. It's been running for 80 years, but slowly the quality starts to decline. Well what do you do? You put in some new blood. To KEEP the standard. Big progress, major changes that distinguishes a breed from another is done over centuries. Not with one mix. And to get to such a result selective breeding is necessary. So you only take what you want/need and use it for breeding. So you basically breed with the same race. And from time to time you add new, fresh blood to prevent incest.

I don't want to start a discussion whether humans should watch their "breeding". Hell, nobody cares. I just want to point out that mixing two races, for once, doesn't make a change.
