Ahhh, in the film Nobu isn't in it as much - they completely skip over the war, it just mentions that war happened, the Okiya wasn't so popular anymore, you see Pumpkin has adapted to being more American and flirty in a new bar while Sayuri is still more like a geisha. Basically, she meets Nobu and he's interested in her, but he doesn't bid on her at all because he doesn't agree with that part of the geisha lifestyle, then at some point you find out the Chairman would never show interest in Sayuri as long as Nobu wants her because they're close friends. After the war/time skip Sayuri decides to sleep with a general to dissuade Nobu (though it isn't Nobu who finds her) and in the end she gets with the Chairman. Did he lose the arm in WW1? Otherwise they first met before the war so it was ok for him to still have his arm. I can't remember if they got rid of it after, he only came up again briefly to ask Sayuri to help impress some Americans and say he wants to be her danna. I should read the book, it sounds much more in depth (as is usually the case).

i believe he lost his arm in the korean war, not really remember too much yes! please do read! id love to discuss it with you afterwards! it really is a great read, even if the ending isnt too agreeable (to myself personally) ill shush about the book from now on so i dont give any more away ^v^ i apologize for giving away what i had, try and forget it!
