Practice perspective and landscapes to get better at backgrounds. It looks like you learned the anatomy of humans well but you can keep going with things like animals, plants, rocks and geography. When color is involved you might also want to learn about atmospheric perspective.

Today I tried my hand at swapping hair styles (and still keep the nature of the hair somewhat intact).

Drew a quick sketch without reference.
Practicing head has paid off; I was able to draw it quick and confidently.
Rest of the body still needs work. ;p
Is it better to work on each body part or should I study drawing entire poses?

If you're trying to work without references to see how much you remember without them, a good practice exercise is drawing something, taking a break, coming back and redrawing it but fixing up the parts that stand out to you. You can do this process as many times as you like but be sure to check the reference at the end so you don't accidently start forming bad habits.

    Oh, that's perfect.
Was considering hitting up my friend tomorrow and looking over the drawing together.
He helped me out with another drawing before and I was surprised how much I learnt from having him show me some of my mistakes.
Now I will definitely do that, cheers!
