Black ★★ Rock Shooter: Dawn Fall 2022

Well this is a fun Christmas gift for Vocaloid and BRS fans: A new Project for Black ★ Rock Shooter has been announced. It will be called Dawnfall and is set to be announced for the coming year. I just learned this on IG from a post from Good Smile when they announced a new figure for the upcoming project. I am very excited and hope it is an improvement from the original 8 episode series and takes cues from the superior ova and song the franchise is based on. For those who don't know, Black★Rock Shooter started life as a lone character design by artist Huke, and would inspire Ryo to create a song based on it using Hatsune Mikus voice bank. This would become popular enough that it would spawn a 50 min ova short, a manga and the well known 8-Episode anime series to expand upon the lore. So I finally finished the series. Definitely gonna watch the series again and hopefully update this thread finally. So far my initial thoughts are that this show has a lot of sharp Edges (aka edgy af), I love Black Tryke (the Motorcycle R2D2 of the group), and I feel that while it was cool to take cues from the game, this series didn't really capture what the original Ryo song was about. (Also fun fact: The original designer of Black Rock Shooter has done work for Metal Gear Solid and has done Gears of War Fanart)

as someone who loved the ova and couldnt believe what they did to the anime, i really REALLY hope they do right with this project. i love/hate some of the new design choices, particularly strength https://i.imgur.com/ammpGNt.jpg https://static.zerochan.net/STRength.full.206684.jpg every iteration tries to make their designs even more crazy, but less is more. the guy who did the character designs for steins;gate is the guy behind these characters, can we just trust his vision? The problem in the anime wasnt only the design ans animation to me they just took the idea of the characters from the ova and yeah just wrote a new story. It was too confusing to me, their drive is gone, their story and relationship? None existent. Sure the other characters weren’t in the first ova. But i thought of brs as A friend trying to help another friend thru their hardships. But the anime was like yeah nope lets throw that concept out of the bus. I see CGI in the trailer im scared… XDDDD
