i kinda feel like if it were me as president, i'd consider the thousands of displaced families in my own country that had lost loved ones and all of their possessions to a hurricane as a priority, not... yk, a war being fought half-way across the world. idk though, that's just me. the 20 million is honestly almost insulting considering the BILLIONS being sent to Ukraine...

I mean if it were you as president it sounds like you'd overestimate the amount of power you have since due to the checks and balances implemented in our government to keep any one branch from becoming too powerful the government is extremely slow this includes the ability to send out money since while the president does get to decide what to send and how much of it oftentimes Congress still has to approve it and if the proposal isn't good enough or it's too much money it'll take longer for them to come to an agreement or they might just reject it altogether not to mention even if it gets approved the Supreme Court can always butt in and say no like what they did when Biden tried to put money into getting rid of some student loans not to mention other barriers I might not know of last time we had a hurricane Trump sent out 13 billion in aid but it took 3 years before they actually got it which people blamed Trump for "blocking" aid personally I don't think he was blocking it he likely just assumed he had more power than he did and tried to send a lot of money and likely got slapped by bureaucratic barriers but that's just my opinion since we don't really know what exactly happened

you're probably right!! I'm not au fait on the US presidential systems, I just find it an odd thought that the government in the US can't speed through crisis aid for their own people - I mean, I'd like to think Congress and the Supreme Court would be eager to approve it pretty quickly, especially considering that within two years (since feb 2022) they managed to OK $61.3 billion worth of aid and get it over to Ukraine. Don't get me wrong, I think that is a good thing, it's just that if I were in any position of power in the US that could make that call right now I'd imagine my focus would be on my own people. i'm sure in the end they'll get the aid they need, but seeing all of the towns wiped out completely, it's hard to imagine solving that with $20 mil. hopefully they'll eventually increase that.

My guess is that they're likely going to make small payments of a couple million to get them approved quickly and only use what's needed as to not repeat what happened with Trump and Puerto Rico where Trump kept asking for big sums and they kept getting rejected ultimately resulting in delayed aid and this is more conspiracy but I think the reason they're sending so much money to Ukraine is likely because some of the politicians are personally profiting off the war since some of them likely invest in weapons and the more money they send the more weapons Ukraine buys and so they're likely quick to come to an agreement at the end of the day politicians care more about what benefits them than the people after all profits over people and all that not to mention whatever agreements Ukraine and the USA made beforehand that we're obligated to go through with

@secretagentboi Let's not forget the multi-trillion dollar mineral rights Ukraine sold to the US as well as possible reconstruction efforts like what happened with Halliburton and Iraq.
