In general if I would have used a source based on a newsoutlet this would have not been valid. For a term paper you have to use multiple sources, none of them are meant to be a news outlet. We talking about research papers.. I for example used several doctoral theses (published in the last 5 years) to write a term paper that has actual value. Not here to bash anyone about research but like those 5 papers had like 5-thousand pages of reading, including hundreds of sources. People in here talk a lot about news and stuff - which I see, because it is the most common way to review news and information but it is very simple. All I am saying is, that for example in this pandemic scientists who work in that field know much more about a virus and how it can affect people, communties etc. Usually in news you compare a guy - call him Joe Rogan or a guy on a news anchor who might have read 5 - 20 pages (maybe not a single one) about a specific topic and spurts out the opinion in public, compared to a scientist who read thousands of pages, studies, got the know how and works in the field himself/herself and only gives a vague answer about the future. I am not a fan of the common news outlets in the US, CNN, Fox News or whatever..... I feel nobody in the world should watch those, America needs a media reformation.

I am also not saying "news outlet xy is bad" - just saying any news outlet is not a source and should never be portrayed as one. Term papers on any scientifcal papers are not based on articles of a single news outlet.

Yes, this is not something you need to read to attend university but if you do bring in your opinion which is not based on knowledge, expertise or facts, then it does not matter. I´ve worked for 2 universities and the people who have knowledge, read studies and are reflective based on them, are not the one with the 'loudest' opinion you hear on any news outlet. Might it be cultural, mathematical or in any common field. Besides that - please get vaccinated, get your booster and protect yourself, others and your family. - Solidarity

It must be a location thing because here, news articles can be used as sources. Here the meaning of "news" is simply that... NEW information. It's not too hard to weed out the facts from the opinions or spins, especially if you read from multiple sources. In the US there is currently less trust in major news sources because day by day the veil is being lifted and we can see just how it's used to control narratives, sway opinions, and ultimately be used as arms of the establishment for propaganda. I prefer to get my news from independent sources, but I'll also take what I can get. I hate to say it, but Twitter and it's rapid response to things going LIVE is starting to be my preferred way to ingest news. There you can see coverage before it gets spun by major media networks.

You can also see the collection of filth gathering around with their political opinions. Twitter is a cesspool and the fact that strangers can tell another person tobgo kill themselves over a different opinion is ludicrous

Stop following people with bad opinions then. Lol you can literally filter what you want to see by who you follow. I have a pretty insane mix. I follow drag queens, artists, political commentators... I've also recently added some trans folk who have been "canceled" by LGTBQ for being outspoken about their communities.
