@projectptakux basically Trump made a plan to remove all troops by september. Biden when he took office kept that agreement. The blame cannot be placed on Trump as Biden is president and had no obligation to uphold Trump's plan, same as Trump was not obligated to uphold obama's Iran deal. Biden promised that taliban would not overtake Afghanistan but within a few weeks of US Troops withdrawl they basically taken over the entire country. Now Troops have been sent back in to remove all remaining Americans. Taliban have also seized left over military equipment such as helicopters, Humvees, weapons, etc. Afghan forces have also seemed to side with taliban. So basically afganistan after 20 years of fighting terrorism has been lost. Women's rights have been completely dismantled and they will go back into oppression under the taliban regime. India seems to be a contender apparently for the taliban but we dont know what this will mean moving forward. They basically have so much equipment and control over the country neighboring countries who we dont have any relationship with will suffer. We had no plan besides leave and do it quickly. Now the world is mad because we left them without "warning" and the backlash is severe but Afghanistan really is a lost cause.

@hell_hound7, Actually, Trump's original plan was get the troops out by May 1. Biden for his own vanity decided to disregard the May date and originally extend the final withdrawal date to September 11th for the symbolism behind it, and so he could take credit for ending the war in Afghanistan. By doing so, in the Taliban's eyes, Biden dishonored the deal made by the US (The Taliban don't give a shit who's running the US, it's all the same to them). By not pushing back against the plans to extend the deadline for pulling , the Afghan government became illegitimate in the eyes of the Taliban and those who opposed the US presence which is why the Afghan government crumbled so quickly. The lesson here, is don't go back on your word, especially to those who already view you as untrustworthy.

Pretty much, although one can argue the Taliban returning to power was inevitable regardless of what happened, but at least there may have been a small chance of that not happening had Biden stuck to what was originally agreed upon, but nope. He pissed that chance away.

IMO, the US should have left a long time ago. Once Osama Bin Laden was dead. It was time to yeet out of Afghanistan. See how fast the afghan government collapsed. If the Afghans can't even fight for themselves, then why should Americans fight for them? If's been 20 years of war. Maybe in another 20 years they'll get the job done? Yeah OK, as a Taliban fighter put it. "We have time on our side". All the Taliban has to do is wait it out. As someone put it. "Afghanistan is a graveyard for empires". Which is completely true. The Soviet empire came in and got their asses whooped. The American empire came in and got their asses whooped. By all means. If the Chinese empire wants to take a crack at it.
