What he is trying to say is he is arguing that anime is a style, not a particular country of origin animation. I don't agree, anything originally produced in Japan is Anime, Avatar is the coined term of Amerime, and the French made anime-like cartoons are Francome (Franco-Me) in my circles.

In my normally circle we call it based on the contents of the show. And the contents of Avatar while American made is anime in our minds. it is the only American cartoon we consider anime.

i am with pheonix tho i use anime a bit more loosely than he does. but when someone says cartoon i am thinking goof troupe, bugs bunny, duck wing duck, ect
