Spreading lies is pretty serious when you're the president of the USA, which is a position of pretty big institutional power. People listen to you because you have that role, as well as the media basically being required to comment on whatever you say because of that. It is a very large platform to have. And when you have someone like Trump, who, if I remember correctly has retweeted Nazi propaganda on at least one occasion, you've got a lot of potential for real bad misinformation. On the topic of Illegal immigration, I think I know a way to address that problem. That is to say that if the problem is of illegal immigrants undercutting regular labour by being paid lower wages, why not just give them citizenship and then companies can't exploit that cheap labour anymore because those immigrants who were once illegal will now be entitled to proper wages? That way, that problem is solved, and then those people who've worked long hours in jobs few others would do wouldn't have to live in fear of being deported and being separated from whatever family they might have.

@songofsisyphus you would also need to have these new workers work with unions as well or they could undercut the general workers, but why wouldn't they wanna join the union and get an actual paycheck and benefits? immigration is also good for the economy, so it would be a net benefit for business that get new workers so they can expand
