Both parties are mostly comprised of neoliberals, with some slight differences between candidates. Some are Socialist and others Neokeynesian.
Our neolibs aren't as hostile to social programs like the American ones are...
Let us just say our Neolibs are like the Dems there. But they are still labeled Far Right by Leftists.

id say neolibs are very for social programs
and i think any republican that calls themselves a neolib is saying so socially, no economic plan would be neoliberal and yet republican, democratic economics is the polar opposite of republican

Latin America suffers from a problem of wanting huge social nets and not expect economy to go bonkers.
Not to mention our own spendings with politicians. We have 512 Deputees and 89 Senators, plus people who work for each of them.
Brazilians are very lobbyistic for privileges. If you knew how strong is the lobby for work unions and public workers (ranges from the elementary teacher to the judges), you'd call for reforms. Presidents work almost for national companies with intense protectionism.
And who wants to reform this? The Neoliberals.

Brazil needs to lift a lot of its protectionist policies, flex work rights, stop giving subsidies to big national companies, reform its administration, tax system and previdence and least importantly, end superwages for public officers.
