2020 US Presidential Election

@nebelstern maybe not put QUITE like that but yeah, the police are effectively the societal force that keeps the wealthy and their shit safe from the poor folk. no matter how sweet or kind a cop is they contribute to that toxic survival-of-the-fittest enterprise environment. there are many unjust laws and legal loopholes that police use to unethically jail and imprison american citizens for capital gain via government grants. and back to aleph a bit: shit is relatively fucked here. if you're white and have money it's really chill, which is OKAY i guess. but if you're not, life genuinely is a bit shitty here. no matter how well you've been told otherwise. is where i stand at present. hope that helps understand where i'm at a bit more!

I naturally disagree with you because I am one to think the commonfolk doesn't deserve the power it "has". Vox Populi isn't Vox Dei or the preferrable Veritas. Besides, why does the wealthy must be on the eternal threat of the masses should they feel they aren't receiving enough bread and circus? Still, it makes no sense that billionaires hold power over society instead of intellectuals and capable and virtuous people.

But it should be my Latin American instinct tingling. We always cling for virtuous men to better our lots. Which actually produces the reversed effect.

@nebelstern while i don't buy into aristocracy quite that much, i know that i personally want intellectuals and expert scientists of their fields to be behind the wheel with policy-making related to their fields and leading us through government offices. the fact that our culture doesn't instinctively vote in that way or demand that of our leaders is very frustrating. it's definitely not so simple to me as "the average person shouldn't have a say because they're not qualified enough" (which may or may not be valid, i'm not even certain at this point). but idk i don't think the solution is to take away what little voice they do have. hmmmmm
