2020 US Presidential Election

So given the huge push to fill RBG’s seat, I can’t help thinking that this is not the action of a political party that thinks they’re on the rise. This is what you do when you know you don’t have anymore time. I mean to rush through a nomination so fast and so close to the election? Makes me think McConnell and Trump think they’re not going to retain their positions come November. And we’re still waiting on any kind of extension or relief from a pandemic that’s been going on for almost a year but they can nominate a new justice within a lil over a month? It could be framed that they care more about their legacy to tilt courts right than the lives of their constituents.

It's a possibility. If anything, to consolidate power. McConnell and the GOP have no interest in actually helping their base or anyone else for that matter. If they did, we would have seen actual employment increases in the mining industry. Bare minimum.

if they cared about their base they wouldn't help mining jobs though that's a dying occupation as people move to renewable resources if they cared about miners they would work to add funding to education programs for those people to help assimilate them to other, safer, lines of work

Oh, don't tell their base that. Their core demo in the bible belt is the out of work coal mining industry. It's a convenient lie.
