@draig It certainly shouldn't be excused and it is a poor commentary on our culture where it is. Work ethic is perhaps one of the few things that cannot be taken from a person, while really speaking to the quality of the person themselves. I think it becomes the child's fault when they are presented with an opportunity to earn something through a reasonable effort, and choose not to, especially on the grounds of "my parents will just get it for me anyways"
