My dad is a boomer and watched Speed Racer as a kid which is an anime, even though that was still before Anime as we know it, would probably understand it in layman's terms like "Japanese animation".

I had Gundam posters and Gunpla models, but the posters made the mobile suits look realistic and they thought the models were just toys -_-

My mom and dad aren't aware of it. But my lil brother is. And I don't think that they'll mind the anime part, they'll jump to the conclusion that manga is comic and then they'll start judging me.
