Bullying on MO

I've been long enough around the internet to deal with trolls/harassment myself. The first time I ever posted in an online forum was in the anime community of Gaiaonline. I was about 18 at the time, and I expressed my opinion about a character I really disliked at the time, since the title of the thread was "Worst main anime character?" Or something like that. But yeah, I got trolled immensely by this one user. I handled it immaturely at the time, but I learned to let it go after awhile, and it's like people like that aren't worth your energy. I personally hate bullying of any nature, but I've seen it around on MO here and there. There's also a fair amount of trolls too. Like even when I first joined last summer I remember seeing countless troll threads and just being amazed that there are people like that with that sort of time on their hands. I've also observed ridiculous amounts of drama from a distance on this site. The problem is that even if you manage to report and ban a user, they'll continue making multiple accounts and continue their behavior, so that's kinda difficult on its own. Do I wish there was a more effective solution? Definitely, but as has been said a mod can only do so much. But I mean yeah, MO should be a site where fans of all kinds young/old share their interests. Of course there are lurkers that creep back in the shadows. In the meantime, the best way to handle it is to ignore them and hope they'll back off.
