Starting anime for noobs

wolfofwolves
So I can pretty much say with confidence that we have all tried to get a friend into anime even though they didn't like it. So here is my question. What anime did you recommend and was it a hit or miss? Mine is usually SCHOOL LIVE. People always start of like "oh, its really cute and fruity". At the the end of the first episode it turns to " OH?! WHAT THE FUCK?!". Its still a big hit or miss with it. For some, it interest them enough to watch it for themselves while others just forget about it. So about 50/50 for me.

Sit them down and force them to watch all of 0079 in one go. Provide coffee milk.

^ i tried to get my friend hooked with soul eater too high school friend who dabbled in anime but wasnt a huge fan and i wanted to get him hooked problem is i dont think he actually watched it xD yeah it depends your friends taste a lot of people see anime and think those cutesy moe's and arent interested soul eater is really easy to get into because barely anything in that insane universe is explained and the animation is gorgeous and its really funny with great fight scenes attack on titan is probz another good one because it really hooks you with the first ep, but it is a bit of a commitment and while the backstory and mystery could be what keeps them watching, it could also become detious to some people

Very much so lamb~ Recommend them madoka, let's see how they feel about cutesy moe then! Also if your friend is a degenerate just recommend them something ecchi idk Would evangelion be a good first watch anime?

One of the things i have tried to do lately is pick three types of art work styles, from there i ask what they are into, and try to find an anime that fits. Certain art style doesn't appeal to certain people even if the story is great. You can also have good art with shitty story but lets not talk about that. I have also had people tell me that anime is for kids but for those people I send them to boku no pico cause I'm an ass sometimes :D As for evangelion... not sure if its really a good first time anime unless the like mecha.
