Who do you think is smarter Light (death note) or lelouch (Code Geass)?

in my opinion the ending of fail doesn't mean he's not smart, after all the ending is up to the writer, but I can clearly see that the writer is making his most effort to make light looks smart

I would say Lelouch has the upper hand this time. While they both technically got what was coming to them, Lelouch came out with the most gains in the end I think. I mean I haven't seen Resurrection yet so my opinion might invalidate itself in the future.
