what are your views on family?

do you think blood is thicker than water? do you have a good relationship with your family? and do you possibly want your own family? kids? owo personally, blood is not thicker than water but i do love my family!! aaaand i'm too young and broke for a child right now, so i'll probably have a child when i am 30 .w.

If you have to cut ties with your family to get ahead, then do it for your own betterment. I have a so-so relationship with mine, but I'd prefer for the connection to be very minimal.

Literally, yes. Blood is thicker than water. But metaphorically speaking, blood isn't worth killing yourself over. You shouldn't sacrifice your wants and needs just because someone is tied to you by a title. I'd say my relationship with my family is nothing but on legal terms. Meaning they are my family by law but they don't emotionally feel like what a family should be like. I'm not very close with them either despite living in the same household. "I love you" is no longer a phrase we use anymore. I would ideally want my own family and I would cherish them till the day I die.

i dont think it matters for me if its thicker or not. Because both are indeed liquid, but ones not exactly like the other. Its two different things. My relationship with my family seems average, but we never really talk. its kind of a family thing, none of us brothers talk despite how close we were. even though we are quiet and dont communicate with each other much, we do still care for one another i guess? And my own family? probably, probably not, i mean i hate kids! since i just cant communicate with them, im very awkward around them! also i agree with maid, "i love you" is a word that i barely use, even to my beloved! i only use it when i necessarily have too :P. but i for sure never uttered the word to my family even once :P (also i still want to move out alone, i just dont want to live with them anymore, though i only do due to me being cheap and still thinking about what i want to do, also helping out my bro pay his debts first)

...Does everyone here have a bad relationship with their family? I'm really close with my family actually, I decided to continue living with my parents on my own volition actually since I wanted to help my mom and dad out financially so they can have some burden taken off of their shoulders as my dad is the only one who works at this point. I use "I love you" all the time with my family, even with my cousins. We're all super close and I mean we never know if when we say goodbye after visiting eachother will be the last time so yeah. I don't feel any shame or anything weird about using that phrase with my family. To be fair though, my family isn't all hugs, sunshine and rainbows. We've had our fair share of dysfunction and generally fucked up shit go on and honestly I used to have a more negative/neutral view with them when I was younger, but then I got out into the real world and realized that people are legitimately shit a great deal of the time and there's not many relationships you can make that will have the longevity of your ties with family. At least in my personal experience. I would like to have my own family at some point though with maybe one or two kids.

family isnt blood, its a bond my father left when i was a little kid, and id never say he was my "family" i have no love for any of my family, minus my mom and maybe nephew i felt much more comfortable around my bfs family (they are actually a normal happy family)
